Temples of Hoysala Empire in Karnataka - Part 3

In continuation with the series of temples in Karnataka, here is the next part of the Hoysala temples

9. Someshwara Devalaya, Harnahalli

This is another example of Hoysala architectural temples. The temple walls depict beautiful images of deities. The presiding deity of worship at this temple is Hindu God Lord Shiva.

This temple is planned for renovation under the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Directorate of Archaeology & Museum.

How to reach Harnahalli?

Harnahalli is easily accessible by road from Bangalore or Hassan. Harnahalli is at a distance of 180 km from Bangalore, and 40 km from Hassan.
Our route(By road): Arasikere to Harnahalli – 10 km

10. Chennakeshava Devalaya, Harnahalli

Harnahalli has another temple which is of importance when it comes to the era of Hoysala dynasty.

This temple has a vast temple ground with compound constructed. Like other temples of its kind, this temple too competes for the beauty in terms of its architecture.

11. Chennakeshava Temple, Aralaguppe

This temple is dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu. Aralaguppe is a small town in Tumkur district. This stands from the time of King Vira Someshwara of Hoysala dynasty. This temple has a simgle shrine, thus Ekakuta. It is built in a stage like platform.

How to reach Aralaguppa?

Aralaguppe is well connected by road from the najor cities like Hassan and Bangalore. It is located at a distance of 60 km from Hassan.
Our route (by road): Arasikere to Aralaguppe via Tiptur
Arasikere to Tiptur – 23 km
Tiptur to Aralaguppe – 14 km

12. Lakshmi Narayana Temple, Hosaholalu

Hosaholalu is a small town located in Mandya district in Karnataka. This town has importance because of the heritage temple under conservation, Lakshmi Narayana Temple of Hoysala.

The temple walls narrate stories of Ramayana and Mahabharatha through the stone carvings. The epic heroes and the powerful deities are shown beautifully on the walls.

How to reach Hosaholalu?

Hosaholalu is connected to Hassan in about 60 km, and to Mysore at a distance of 45 km. 
Our route (by road): Krishna Raja Pete to Hosaholalu – 2 km

13. Brahmeshwara Temple, Kikkeri

Brahmeshwara is another specimen Hoysala Temple. Kikkeri is a small town located in Mandya district.

Similar to other Hoysala Temples, this temple too flaunts beautiful feminine stylized sculptures.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Eshwara. But there is Lord Brahma on the door way. Thus the temple gets its name Brahmeshwara.

There is a nandi/bull  here. The body of the bull is decorated with complex designs.

How to reach Kikkeri?

Kikkeri is very easily connected by road from various prominent cities. The nearest city is Hassan – 48 km.
